Hi there and welcome to my photoblog! My name is Rutger Blom and I’m a 32 year old guy from The Netherlands who lives in Lund in Sweden. I’m married and a father of two. In my daily life I’m working as an IT engineer.
As you might expect photographing is my favorite hobby. I’ve been an amateur photographer since 2007. I don’t have any particular style. For me part of the fun is exploring and trying out different techniques and shooting within different themes.
When it comes down to post processing I don’t believe there is one right way to produce a good photograph. Sometimes a photo is good as it is straight from the camera. Other times you want to make some minor adjustments or convert it to a black & white. Then again some photos look really fantastic after some hours in Photoshop or as a HDR image. In the end it is the result that matters.
Digital photography and the Internet were made for each other. Flickr is one example of that. I created a Flickr account September 2007 and I’m uploading every single photo to my photostream. The Flickr community really is a driving force. Their comments and favs are very stimulating and addictive. I’m also one of the group administrators of Svenska Amatörfotografer which is the most active Swedish group on Flickr.
Since June 2009 I’m on SmugMug. SmugMug is a very elegant photo service and offers some other features than Flickr. Google also has a very nice photo service called Picasa Web. Picasa Web in combination with the Picasa desktop software gives you a very smooth digital photography workflow.
Besides this site, Flickr, SmugMug and Picasa Web you can see my photos at my Facebook Page and Today’s Photo.
